What is UVigo's approach in developing the converter control strategy and what makes it innovative?
The strategy being developed allows, in normal operation, the converter to work as a voltage source in a collaborative manner with other converters and generators. In the presence of faults or disturbances, the current delivered by the converter must be limited. In addition, the converter must operate stably over a wide range of conditions.
How have you worked on optimizing the modularity and scalability of the converter?
Progress has been made in defining a control strategy that allows the connection of multiple conversion modules in parallel so that each one delivers power proportional to its capacity according to demand.
What technical challenges have arisen in this first year and how have they been resolved?
The difficulty of designing a controller that allows the converter to operate stably and safely under very different conditions and in the presence of disturbances has been identified.
